Ask an AI chat to "write a one-pager about our Q4 plan" and you get something fluent, generic and partly invented. Give it your notes, the reader, the ask and a structure, and you get a first draft worth editing. The difference is entirely in what you put in.
The workflow
- Collect the source. Your meeting notes, the numbers, the decisions so far. Rough is fine. The AI's job is to structure and cut, not to know your business.
- Name the reader and the ask. "For our seed investors. The ask: intros to heads of operations at dental groups."
- Give it a format. A structure with named parts, or a one-pager template. Without one, every draft comes back shaped differently.
- Ask for Markdown. Headings, lists and tables as plain text, so the result can live in your notes.
- Check every number against your source. Then cut.
- Share it where people can answer on it, not as a screenshot or a pasted copy that drifts.
A prompt you can copy
This works in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other chat. Paste your notes after it.
Write a one-pager from the notes below.
Reader: [who]. What I need from them: [the ask].
Structure, in this order: a headline that states the main point as a claim with a number; one line of context (date, source of the numbers); three to five key numbers, each with a comparison to plan or last period; highlights (three) and lowlights (two or three); next steps with owners and dates; the ask, as one to three specific items.
Rules: use only facts and numbers from my notes. If something the structure needs is missing, write [missing: what] instead of inventing it. Plain words, short sentences, no hype. Under 500 words. Answer in Markdown in one code block.
Notes: [paste]
The [missing: …] rule is the most useful line in it. It turns invented numbers into visible gaps you can fill.
Checking what comes back
- Numbers. Compare each one with the source. Models round, swap periods and occasionally make up a comparison.
- The headline. Is it a claim you would defend, or a summary of everything? Rewrite it yourself if needed; it is the line that matters most.
- The asks. Are they specific enough that someone could act on them in one email?
- Tone. Remove adjectives the AI added ("exciting", "robust", "significant").
- Length. Ask for a version 30% shorter. It is usually better.
Turning the Markdown into a page people can edit
A Markdown answer in a chat window is not something you send to investors. The next step depends on where you want the page to live.
Claude artifacts
Claude can render its answer as an artifact, a page next to the chat. As of October 2026, artifacts start private and can be shared with anyone who has the link; on paid plans you can also invite specific people by email (in beta) as viewers, commenters or editors, and invitees need a Claude account with that email. It is a good option if the page can live in Claude. The page is stored in Claude, though, not in your notes.
ChatGPT canvas
ChatGPT's canvas gives you an editable draft beside the chat, which is a comfortable place to iterate. Sharing from ChatGPT is built around sharing the conversation or what was made in it; we could not confirm a way, as of October 2026, for someone outside your workspace to co-edit the same canvas. Copy the result out when it is done.
Gamma
Gamma takes pasted text or an uploaded file (including .md) and generates a designed presentation or document. Its sharing settings offer view, comment and edit access by link, and the Pro plan adds a password option. It is the better choice when you want a polished deck. The result lives in Gamma, and we found no Markdown export, so it does not go back into your notes. See myone.page vs Gamma.
myone.page, if your notes are in Obsidian
myone.page is a free Obsidian plugin that renders a Markdown note as a styled one-pager, with stat tiles, cards, tables, charts and a timeline. Its page format is plain Markdown with a few callouts, so an AI can write it directly:
- Any AI chat, no setup. In Obsidian, choose Make a page with AI on a note. It copies a request with the page format and your note; paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, paste the answer back, and the page opens as a new note. You can pick a template for the AI to follow. Details at myone.page/ai.
- Claude with the skill. Upload the free myone-page skill in the Claude app once, and Claude knows the whole format and the templates, so its pages need fewer fixes.
- Claude Code, Codex or Cursor in your vault. The plugin's Set up button puts the skill and a checker into the vault, and the agent writes the note in place and validates it.
The page stays a note you own. When you share it, readers open a link in a browser without Obsidian, can edit it there, and their edits come back into the note within about a minute. Pages are end-to-end encrypted. The plugin and three shared pages are free.
Which to use
| You want | Use |
|---|---|
| A quick draft to paste into an email | Any AI chat with the prompt above |
| A page that lives in your AI app | Claude artifacts |
| A designed slide deck for a live presentation | Gamma |
| A one-pager that stays in your Obsidian notes, shared and edited by others | myone.page |
Whichever you choose, the structure does most of the work. Start from a template: one-page report, investor update, product brief, or read how to write a one-pager for the rules behind them.
